Appointed as president of RB Leipzig, Tatjana Haenni becomes the first woman to president of a club in Germany.
Tatjana Haenni was named president of RB Leipzig on Wednesday, becoming the first woman to hold the position in German football history. Aged 59, the former Swiss international (23 caps) will take up her position on January 1, succeeding Oliver Mintzlaff, general director of projects and investments at Red Bull.
Since his retirement from sports, Haenni has held positions within UEFA, FIFA and the Swiss Football Federation (SFV), the club said. “I can’t wait to start in January and get to know the club inside and out“, she declared, quoted in the press release. “Together we want to build on the successes already recorded and achieve our ambitious goals.”

Founded in 2009 by the Austrian energy drink group, RB Leipzig has been playing at the highest level of the Bundesliga since 2016. He won two German Cups (2022 and 2023) and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2020. Currently coached by Ole Werner, he occupies 2nd place in the championship, 8 points behind Bayern Munich.
