Young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait join hands to pursue their dreams! The third cross-strait exchange and integration series activities opened in Shenzhen
The opening ceremony of the 3rd “Cross-Strait Youth of Shenzhen Join Hands for the Future – Cross-Strait Exchange and Integration Series Activities” and the 6th Cross-Strait Student Baseball League Finals were held in Nanshan, Shenzhen on the 12th. More than 1,000 people from all walks of life and young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered in Shenzhen, a hot spot for reform and opening up, to talk about friendship, cooperation and imagine the future.
The third cross-strait exchange and integration series of activities was co-sponsored by the Cross-Strait Exchange Center of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the Taiwan Cross-Strait Peace and Development Foundation. With the core of attracting Taiwanese youth groups, it focused on the fields of economy and trade, culture, science and technology, sports, grassroots, and youth. A series of 30 exchange activities were carried out throughout the year, attracting more than 10,000 compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
At the opening ceremony, the drum corps combined British singing and dancing to create a creative “encouragement”, a Kung Fu boy and a robot dog shared the stage for a “dialogue”, a baseball-themed street dance show, a drone airdrop of baseball and other projects. The cutting-edge technology “hands in hand” sports event, which made the audience and players dizzy and cheered.
The Cross-Strait Student Baseball League Finals has been successfully held in Shenzhen for several times and has become a widely watched cross-Strait youth sports exchange event. This year, the Sixth Cross-Strait Student Baseball League Finals attracted more than 800 athletes, coaches and referees from 30 teams on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, including more than 500 personnel from 20 teams from the island.
Qiu Kaiming, vice president of the Association for Cross-Strait Relations, said that the series of cross-Strait exchange and integration activities, as an important platform for cross-Strait exchanges established by Shenzhen in the new era, will continue to provide better conditions and create more opportunities for the growth, success and success of young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. It is hoped that young people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits will seize the opportunities of the times, give full play to their own advantages, and jointly write a beautiful picture of walking together, working together, and creating a better future.
Wang Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, said that Shenzhen has always taken an open attitude and pragmatic actions to work with compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to promote integrated development to a new level, build a bridge of cooperation, build a spiritual concentric circle, and draw a new picture of happiness. We warmly welcome every Taiwan compatriot to come and work hard and share the glory, enhance mutual trust through exchanges, and gather strength through integration.
Lian Shengwu, director and CEO of the Taiwan Cross-Strait Peace and Development Foundation, said that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait share common historical memories, cultural inheritance, language, beliefs and habits. They are a family connected by blood and should visit each other frequently and get close to each other. Young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should use this activity platform to have heart-to-heart conversations in exchanges, increase trust in exchanges, and work together to pursue their dreams.
