Stulic Scores, Lecce Wins | Pisa & Berisha Update

LECCE – With a goal from Stulic in the 72nd minute, Lecce won the direct clash with Pisa and moved up to 16th in the standings after fifteen rounds of the championship.

It was a deserved success for the Giallorossi who controlled the match from the start without ever leaving any opportunities for their opponents. Falcone was in fact an added spectator. It’s a shame for Berisha, who was soon forced to be replaced due to a muscle injury.

Kaba took his place: the Frenchman performed well both in the pressure phase on his opponents and in the proactive phase, giving substance and fluidity to the maneuver. The midfielder also came very close to scoring, but was guilty of generosity when, in the 52nd minute, he preferred to serve Camarda instead of shooting on goal, surprising even his teammate who wasn’t expecting the assist.

Despite their territorial and tactical supremacy, Di Francesco’s team struggled too much to find the advantage against a modest opponent who also lacked Nzola, who has scored three goals so far. In the first half only Tiago Gabriel came really close, in the 31st minute, with a header from a close-range cross from Camarda. In a couple of other episodes the conclusions towards the goal defended by Semper had not been irresistible (Coulibaly and Pierotti).

In the second half, aware of their superiority, Lecce tried to push the accelerator. After the sensational opportunity that happened to Kaba, an opportunity also arrived for Coulibaly in the 66th minute, but the attempted deflection after a free kick by Sottil ended up on the goal. Before the game resumed, Banda and Stulic entered the field for Pierotti and Camarda and the double substitution proved providential: from a descent towards the back line of the former, the assist came for the attacker who, with his right foot, directed the ball to the far post without the Pisa goalkeeper even being able to attempt the intervention.

After a fourteen-day long wait, the Serbian player finally scored his first goal and, upon entering the pitch, was greeted by boos from part of the crowd. Stulic responded to the premature sentence in the best possible way, finding the net which was a liberation for him and for the whole team which certainly needs his contribution to achieve salvation, but also a gift for the director of the technical area Pantaleo Corvino who, on his 76th birthday, also crossed the finish line of 500 official matches with Lecce.
