NFL star Stefon Diggs from the New England Patriots faces, among other things, allegations of serious bodily harm by strangulation.
According to police information, which the US media consistently cites, the incident in question occurred in Dedham, Massachusetts, at the beginning of December. The allegations became known after a court hearing on Tuesday. Diggs, one of the league’s best wide receivers, denies all allegations.
It remains unclear who exactly is making the accusations. In an email quoted by the AP news agency, Diggs’ lawyer David Meier attributes it to a “financial dispute between employee and employer” that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.

The Patriots said Diggs also told the club to categorically deny the allegations. “We will continue to gather information and cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary,” it said in a statement. The club supports Diggs.
The 32-year-old has been playing in the NFL since 2015, first for the Minnesota Vikings (until 2019), then for the Buffalo Bills (until 2023) and, after a year with the Houston Texans, for New England since the summer. With his support, the franchise recently secured the division victory for the first time since 2019 and participation in the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
