Loaned to Lierse during the first part of the season, Yann Gboua will return to Standard in January. He will train with the A core, but will first play with SL16 FC, with the possibility of being included in Vincent Euvrard’s group before the end of the season.
The winter transfer window will open on January 6 in Belgium. The opportunity for clubs to adjust their squad for the end of the season, both by strengthening it, but also by removing certain unwanted players.
The Standard is found in both categories, a few days before the end of the calendar year. Several players have not convinced and could leave the ship through the back door, and the club is already working behind the scenes to try to strengthen itself in the race for the top 6.
A return to the Champions Play-Offs is obviously the main priority of Matricule 16, which would however also like to ensure the maintenance of its second team, currently last in D1 ACFF.
With this in mind, a young talent loaned this season by the Rouches will make his return for the second part of the season. Rented to Lierse after the summer internship at Touquet, Yann Gboua will make his return to the Liège academy at the beginning of January.
Yann Gboua returns to Standard in January
According to our information, the young 17-year-old striker will be in the group for the winter training camp in Portugal and will receive a new chance on the banks of the Meuse. He will train with the A core, but will initially play matches for the U23 team, to try to strengthen it in D1 ACFF. In the event of good performances, Yann Gboua could also be taken over by Vincent Euvrard for a few matches before the end of the season.
Considered the fastest player in the Standard academy in terms of pure speed, and still under contract until June 30, 2027, Yann Gboua did not have the expected playing time at Lierse and only has 31% of playing time in the Challenger Pro League.
Not often used in the best way, he only proved decisive on an accounting level in the 6th round of the Belgian Cup, when he scored and delivered an assist during Lierse’s 0-2 victory at Merelbeke.
