Stade Toulousain: Points Deduction & Championship Lead Lost

The French rugby disciplinary council withdrew 4 points, including 2 suspended points, from the French champion club. Who, as a result, is no longer at the top of the championship.

A sanction and a consequence. Stade Toulousain received this Monday a withdrawal of 4 points, including 2 suspended, in the ranking of the current Top 14 season. Two units withdrawn which caused the triple reigning French champion to lose the lead in the championship.

Before this sanction, after 11 contested days, Toulouse was leader with 39 points, ahead of Section Paloise, 37 points on the clock. From now on, the two clubs are tied on points (37), but the Béarnais move into the leadership chair for the benefit of the direct confrontation between the two clubs.

Pau leader benefits from his victory against Toulouse

On October 18, Pau had indeed beaten Stade Toulousain 30 to 26. A result which separated the two teams. With still 15 days to go, and a return leg between Toulouse and Pau, everything obviously remains possible for Ugo Mola’s men.

The disciplinary council also imposed two fines on the Rouge et Noir: for a total amount of 45,000 euros, including 15,000 euros suspended. The Stadium travels to Lyon this Saturday when Pau goes to Montauban. Toulon, 3eis 3 points behind.

Stade Toulousain has seven days to appeal to the FFR appeal committee against this (lenient) decision of the French Rugby Disciplinary Council.
