With Micky van de Ven as occasional captain, Tottenham Hotspur has achieved a much-needed victory at Crystal Palace in the Premier League. 19-year-old Archie Gray became the match winner at Selhurst Park: 0-1.
Spurs had lost the previous two league matches against Nottingham Forest (3-0) and Liverpool (1-2) and could use the three points well. The team climbed to eleventh place due to the victory.
Simons apologized for his tackle and Van de Ven also suffered after the heated match. Liverpool striker Alexander Isak suffered a broken fibula due to a tackle by Van de Ven. He personally apologized to the Swede.
Tonight Van de Ven played a solid game in central defense in London. Gray decided the match with a header in the 42nd minute. It was his first goal for Spurs.
Richarlison also found the net twice, but both goals were disallowed for offside. Wilson Odobert hit the post on behalf of Crystal Palace.
Roefs, Geertruida and Brobbey tied with Sunderland
Earlier today, Sunderland failed to take over fifth place. The score was 1-1 against Leeds United at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
Goalkeeper Robin Roefs, defender Lutsharel Geertruida and striker Brian Brobbey had a starting place for the home team. Simon Adingra opened the score with a nice ball in the far corner.
While Brobbey missed some opportunities, the visitors’ striker found the net. After a long attack that started in their own half and involved all Leeds players, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the final stop.
