Luís Guilherme could be the Lions’ first reinforcement in 2026

Luís Guilherme could be the Lions’ first reinforcement in 2026

Signing the 19-year-old winger really means moving forward. Lions, as you know, want a permanent transfer or mandatory purchase clause, but West Ham is aiming (only) for a loan. Barrier for hiring is set and could reach €18 million

Luís Guilherme really wants to move forward. Having lost other of the lion’s market targets – namely Yeremay Hernández, A Coruña winger, the most desired reinforcement in Alvalade (and who will continue to be on the radar at the end of the season…) -, Sporting is preparing to attack the Brazilian under-20 international in the next… hours. The winger, just 19 years old, became one of the lion’s targets for the market and, you know BALLthe first contacts have already been made, albeit informal, for SAD to try to offer Rui Borges an important asset for the runners, a sector that, remember, was very weakened due to the injuries to Pedro Gonçalves and Quenda, in addition to the absence of Catamo who is competing in CAN.

Well, Sporting’s desire is real, there is room for negotiations to move forward in strength in the coming days, but there are still some points to be debated at the negotiating table. One of them, from what we were able to determine, is along the lines of this desired transfer. And there is still a lack of understanding between the parties involved, Sporting and West Ham. And from here, moreover, we exclude the position of the Brazilian winger who has already shown complete openness to a move to Alvalade. There remains an agreement between the clubs.

And the ‘divergence’ is well identified and is now revealed by BALL. Sporting is committed to trying to sign Luís Guilherme on a permanent basis or, in the worst case scenario, on a loan with a mandatory purchase clause. In both cases, Sporting would be willing to invest in the order of €15 to €18 million. This is the bar set by SAD Leo.

On the other hand, West Ham, because they still believe in the potential of the winger (who only played 18 games in the last year and a half in the Premier League), are willing to release the Brazilian only on a loan… without purchase clauses. A way of being able to give the player pace to recover his higher value at the end of the season, as, it is worth remembering, the English club paid €23 million to Palmeiras to sign him in 2024. A scenario promptly rejected by the lions who want to grab Luís Guilherme permanently. An obstacle that Sporting believes is possible to overcome…
