Sport Recife: Penalty Appeal for Fan-Free Games in Pernambucano

The Legal Department of Sport Club do Recife filed, this Monday (22), a request to convert the penalty imposed for two games without an audience in the Pernambucano Championship. The action took place shortly after receiving information about the punishment, from the new management, which took place last Friday (19), that the club had been convicted in May of this year and punished by the First Disciplinary Commission of the Court of Sports Justice of Pernambuco and, at the time, did not present an appeal.

At the time, the complaint was judged partially valid, resulting in the condemnation of Sport, due to the throwing of an object onto the playing field valid for the Campeonato Pernambucano A1 – Season 2025, held on 15/02/2025, between Sport Club do Recife x Náutico.

The loss of the two field commands is expected to be fulfilled in the first two games of the 2026 Pernambucano Championship. However, Sport is already working and seeking to reverse the situation.

“We acted quickly as soon as we received the information and started working to reverse the punishment. We managed to file the request late this Monday morning”, stated Lucas Leite, Vice-President of Legal for Red and Black.

In its defense, Sport proves that in addition to the immediate repressive action at the time of the game, the Club, together with public security bodies, sought to identify the offenders through the Camera Control and Monitoring Center at the Adelmar da Costa Carvalho Stadium – Ilha do Retiro.

The Club is now awaiting the decision of the Pernambuco Sports Court of Justice.
