Year after year, the confirmation is renewed. It’s the soccer which continues to lead the sports systemdespite swimming, the volleyballand above all the tennishave gained great lifeblood in recent times. As happens every year around Christmas, the contributions arrived decided and distributed by Sport and Health during the last Board of Directors. A total of 344.4 million euros goes to sports organisations, a figure slightly higher than last year, when they were 343.7. At the command of the federations that are entitled to the most funds is, as always, the soccerwith a figure just over 35 millionthus confirming the contributions made last year.
Continues the rise of tennis thanks to the successes of its champions, Jannik Sinner in particular. In fact, if for 2025 the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation was the fifth highest paid federation, this year it is the fourth with a contribution that exceeds 16 million (+2 compared to the previous year, taking the ceiling in this round). Second and third place respectively for swimming (18,620,135 mln) e volleyball (17,864,540), the latter fresh from the double world championship gold of the two major national teams. Both federations are growing, like theathletics with a figure close to 15 million.
Sailing, rugby, skate and surfing are also growingwhile all the others remain substantially stable with only three national sports federations with a minus sign compared to last year (penthatlon, badminton and powerboating). Therefore, in the allocation of contributions which sees the growth of the Italian sport system, it is not only sporting merit that counts, because the logic of the State’s society also includes growth of the sporting phenomenon in its entirety (number of active members, companies and technicians), operational efficiency with the ability to best optimize the use of public resources and the management model of the organizations oriented towards sustainability, responsibility and aligned with the pillars ESG (environmental, social and governance criteria).
What emerges is therefore a more active Italy with beyond 640 thousand more people practicing sports organized compared to previous years, an increasingly more Italy at the top of the world rankings. A result also resulting from the general growth of resources thanks to the self-financing mechanism which, from 2019 to today, has produced a overall increase of 25%, equal to 569 million more. “A virtuous model of circular economy of sport”, defines it as Sport and Health, “where the resources, to which are added those for infrastructures focused on suburbs and grassroots sports, “are reinvested to guarantee general access to sports practice”.
