This evening the Marseille ice rink will not only be the scene of an electric shock on the ice; it will transform into an immense surge of solidarity
For their traditional Christmas matchthe Spartans of Marseille organize their famous “Throwing Teddy Bears”. An evening where sport takes a back seat to the magic of the holidays.
A deluge of sweetness for a good cause
The concept is simple but powerful: as soon as the Spartans register their premier butthe public is invited to throw their stuffed animals onto the ice. This tradition, from North America, aims to collect as many cuddly toys as possible to offer a smile to children who spend the holidays in the hospital.
This year, the harvest will be donated to two essential local actors:
-
Les Ptits Doudous (North Hospital of Marseille): to ease children’s anxiety before surgery.
-
The Fénominots Association: which works to improve the daily lives of hospitalized children from Marseillais.
Practical information: If you can’t carry your bags on game night, a collection bin is already available at the rink!
The sporting challenge: consolidating your place in the elite
Beyond solidarity, there is something at stake on the ice. Currently well placed (5th) at the top of the table Magnus Leaguethe Marseille Spartans must confirm their status as serious contenders for the final stages. The Marseillais are counting on the incandescent atmosphere of the Palais Omnisport to make the difference. A victory this Tuesday would not only delight the supporters, but also allow us to get through the winter break with positive momentum before heading into the home stretch of the season.
So, prepare your cuddly toys, warm up your arms and come and melt the ice cream for the children of Marseille! 4500 places have been sold but there are still some.
