Slavia Prague: Trpišovský Signs New Contract

The aforementioned trio confirmed their further future in Slavia on Thursday, December 18, i.e. a few days after it was officially announced that Trpišovský would not help the national team in the March play-off for the World Cup 2026 due to the demanding work at the club.

But back to the contract extension. Recently, the debate has become a bit more frequent among fans as to whether Trpišovský and his implementation team have anything to offer Slavia. Since the spring of 2018, they have won four titles, four domestic cups and several successful campaigns in Europe. But some supporters asked: “Isn’t the relationship over?”

The management of the staples is now officially sending a clear message. “We have extended the contract for another three and a half years with an option for the following three. I would like the set pace to continue. That is, at least one league title in two years and one domestic cup in two years. In the increased competition that currently prevails in the Czech league, it would be a sensation. I wish it to the coaches, the club and above all to our great fans,” explains the chairman of the board Jaroslav Tvrdík.

Trpišovský, Houštecký and Kolář arrived in Eden together from Liberec. And their work has no competition in terms of the number of trophies recently. In addition, Trpišovský became the best coach of the season four times and with 238 league triumphs he is the most successful league coach in Czech and Czechoslovakian history.

“I am happy that we have reached an agreement. It is a reward for all of us and also a huge commitment to continue our work as we have been doing it for the previous eight years. I wish that our work will continue to bring joy, sporting successes, trophies and, of course, the development of the players. That more beautiful stories will be written,” reports Trpišovský.

“Happiness, joy. We humbly move on. We go to work. We appreciate the trust that has been placed in us. We were already looking forward to Slavia when we were in Liberec, our wish came true. We want to continue to be successful, to enjoy our work. We want the boss, the management and especially the fans to be happy. We do football mainly for them,” Houštecký is clear.

“Sometimes we exaggerate when we say that we are an entertainment factory. So hopefully the entertainment, results, and victories will continue,” Kolář adds. While the mentioned trio is therefore clear about the future, for example second assistant Milan Kerbr officially is not, even though his current contract expires in June 2026.

The coaches themselves can give fans of the staples a belated Christmas present in the form of a Champions League triumph. Slavia has been waiting for him for more than 18 years, specifically since September 2007. In January, they host Barcelona and at the end of the main stage they travel to Pafos, Cyprus. He goes through the duels with the fact that the chance of advancement is either minimal or non-existent.

And just as the win would be a gift for the fans, it would also be a gift for Trpišovský himself. Among other things, he will celebrate his 50th birthday in February.
