PITTSBURGH – Slovakian hockey player Juraj Slafkovský scored two assists during Montreal’s 4:2 victory over Pittsburgh on the night from Thursday to Friday.
The Canadiens broke a streak of two losses, rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler was a significant contributor to the victory. The 21-year-old goalie, whom Montreal called up from the farm this week, stopped 33 of 35 Penguins shots.
Šimon Nemec would rather forget the match, because New Jersey lost 4:8 to Tampa Bay at home. Although the young Slovak defenseman added two assists to his statistics and played almost 21 minutes, eight goals in the New Jersey net is not an attractive business card. Tampa was especially effective in the first period, where he netted four accurate hits.
Martin Fehérváry also appeared on the ice from the Slovaks on Friday night, but Washington lost at home to Carolina 2:3 after raids. Dalibor Dvorský had to spend a heavy loss St. Louis on the field of Nashville 2:7.
David Pastrňák contributed significantly to Boston’s 6-3 win in Winnipeg with two goals and two assists and was named the best player of the match. The Czech striker, who missed five games at the turn of November and December, returned after the injury in style – he collected seven points (2+5) in two duels.

Pastrňák tied the score at 1:1 in the ninth minute on the power play with a sharp shot from behind the right circle. He scored the second point with a goal to make it 4:2, when Hampus Lindholm raised his shot from the stop.
After two more actions by the native of Havířov, Boston sealed the victory in the end. Elias Lindholm skated in on Pastrňák’s pass from behind the back bar and made it 5:3 in the 55th minute. The successful evening was completed by the Czech forward in the game of Winnipeg without a goalkeeper – he scored an empty goal from the attacking blue line.
Pastrňák was very active in the match, sending a total of seven shots. He scored at least four points in the NHL for the first time since the end of last season, when Caroline scored a hat trick and added two assists.
