SG Hemsbach Badminton: Youth Win Gold at District Level

At the 3rd D ranking tournament of the Nordbaden district in Dossenheim, 6 young talents from the U11, U13 and U15 age groups competed for SG Hemsbach Badminton. The highlight from Hemsbach’s perspective was the gold medal and fourth place in the boys U11 category. But the other placements are also impressive.

Lucy Habermaier was the only girl from the SG to compete in the U15 girls’ singles, which was very strong with 12 participants. In the quarterfinals she had to pass after a committed resistance against the eventual runners-up. A hard-fought three-set win against Dishila Bandla (Racket Center Nußloch) secured sixth place for the Hemsbach native.

Among the SG boys, the U11s were particularly successful. Youngster Joshua Krämer had a jump in performance. A superior win against Vihaan Prasanth (TSG Dossenheim) secured him the quarter-finals. Thanks to his speed and long clears, he won surprisingly securely with 21:15, 21:19 against the established Hannes Bruder from the host TSG Dossenheim. This put Joshua in the semi-finals. Here he had to pass against older and more experienced opponents. Fourth place at district level not only brings him a lot of points but also self-confidence. The U11 winner also comes from Hemsbach. Anton Konietzny already played his routine in the quarterfinals. With 21:14, 21:8 he left no doubt about his superiority. But in the semi-final against Sebastian Van Roode (BSpfr. Neusatz) he had to leave the first set to his opponent. Even with the support of the coach, he overcame a low point in the middle of the second set, remembered his strengths and forced a deciding set at 21:18. He then dominated the third set with a score of 21:2 thanks to his variable game with hard smashes. In the final against Ethan David Wu (TSG Dossenheim), Anton left no stone unturned and confidently won gold with 21:10, 21:15.

In the boys U13 category, Hemsbach was represented by two players. Both the experienced Elias Krämer and newcomer Fabian Keil showed good technical and fighting performances in the preliminary round. They were successful twice each in the group phase of the preliminary round. That’s why they met in the game for 5th place. Here Elias showed off his greater routine and came fifth. For Fabian, sixth place in the district is further confirmation of his upward trend.

Vincent Sommerauer started with a win in the strong U15 age group. Sixth place, which he achieved after the two subsequent defeats, means an improvement and a lot of points for him at district level.

The young people from Hemsbach were looked after and coached by Erika Kämmerer and youth leader Karlheinz Hohenadel.
