The crisp sound of the smash, the tacit understanding of the rotation, the enthusiastic high-fives of teachers and students… On December 27, the warmth and vitality were intertwined in the gymnasium, and the “Thirty Chapters·Feather Movement Welcomes the New Year” teacher-student badminton game started here with enthusiasm. This event, a gift for the school anniversary and a warm-up for New Year’s Day, not only innovatively launched the “Five Feathers Round Competition” full participation mechanism, but also allowed teachers and students to transcend the boundaries of the classroom and collaborate side by side on the playing field, performing scenes of touching stories of “teaching and friendship deepening”.
This event is hosted by the school sports committee, organized by the university physical education department and the faculty and staff badminton club, and co-organized by secondary colleges and badminton clubs. It has attracted teacher, student and alumni teams from all colleges and universities to participate in this “badminton appointment”. Different from regular competitions, this competition has “warmth and ingenuity” hidden in the team rules: each team must be composed of teachers and students. Among the 7 athletes, there will be no less than 2 female players and at least 2 teachers. The team leader and coach each perform their own duties, building a bridge of collaboration between teachers and students from the beginning of the team formation.
“Usually teaching students is a ‘preaching and imparting knowledge’, but this time we form a team to play together, it is more like ‘comrades-in-arms walking together’. This change of identity is particularly meaningful. This teacher-student competition is no longer just about winning or losing, it is also a warm-up for the 30th anniversary of Qingdao Huanghai University. It is our youth gift to our alma mater for its 30th birthday.” Wang Zhen, a student at the International Business School, said with a smile.
Although the competition has come to an end, the warmth of unity between teachers and students and alumni is still spreading on campus. This badminton match, which combines “differentiated competition” and “storytelling and warmth”, is not only a vivid footnote to the school’s 30th anniversary, but also builds an emotional bridge between teachers, students, and alumni. The ups and downs of the racket are the collision of youth, the accumulation of friendship, and a vivid interpretation of carrying forward the sports spirit and conveying the joy of sports.
