Sports club Heerenveen has a fully fit selection against Feyenoord. Luuk Brouwers was unable to play the entire match against Sparta, but is now fully fit again.
Many trainers choose a different goalkeeper in a cup match. Bernt Klaverboer played in the first round. Then trainer Robin Veldman wanted to leave Klaverboer behind because Klaverboer had only just become the first goalkeeper.
“We never actually make statements about the line-up, so not this time either. What I can say is that Nordin Bakker is knocking on the door,” says Veldman.
Feyenoord is missing a load of players. Hadj Moussa, Targhalline and Diarra are away because of the Africa Cup, players such as Moder, Rood and Beelen have been out for some time and Valente and Smal are a question mark after being injured against Ajax.
Veldman: “I am not going to adjust the line-up. But you can take it into account in the formation. You see that many teams, such as Ajax last Sunday, adapt and collapse against Feyenoord. It is mainly about the style of play and adapting tricks.
The last time Heerenveen won in De Kuip was in 2016. The penultimate victory was in 2009, in the year that Heerenveen also won the cup.
Veldman: “I never go to a match with this team with trembling knees. I think we had no chance against PSV, but we showed against all other teams, including Feyenoord, that we can make a significant contribution to the match.”
