The 12th National Paralympic Games and the 9th Special Olympics “China Unicom Cup” Futsal Deaf Football Competition officially kicked off on December 8 at the Sanshui Westin Beijiang Football Stadium (Jianlibao Football Youth Training Center).

“It’s great to have friends from far away.” As a city with a century-old football heritage, Sanshui once again welcomed about 250 “guests and friends” from 18 teams across the country with a professional attitude.

Venue facilities are upgraded and event guarantees are in place. Completed the upgrade of the football field, athlete lounge, referee lounge, VIP reception room, volunteer home, etc., added a number of tables, chairs, wardrobes and other facilities, and built 6 additional athlete lounges, 10 temporary toilets and medical stations to meet the high-intensity needs of the event.

Strengthen emergency support and build a solid safety line of defense. Implementing the requirements of the Municipal Executive Committee, four 1.5-kilowatt emergency power supplies were equipped and an emergency plan was formulated; a medical station and two medical points were set up in the venue, two ambulances and a professional first aid team were equipped, and a green channel was established with the Sanshui District People’s Hospital to ensure that emergencies could be responded to within 5 minutes.
The city window displays a warm welcoming style. A city appearance survey was carried out around the venues, hotels and transportation hubs, and more than 100 signs and guidance were added, and thousands of atmosphere decorations were added; colorful flags were flying on both sides of the road from the hotel to the stadium, welcoming “our friends” with a warm atmosphere.
Warm service touches people’s hearts from the details. In response to the needs of deaf athletes, a “one-on-one” heart-warming service team was formed, with business backbones in the region providing full-process companionship; 170 volunteers were recruited from two universities to complete special training in general training, sign language communication, first aid skills, etc., and field drills were conducted to ensure service accuracy.

Humanistic care runs throughout the entire process. On the one hand, a viewing area for family members is set up and sign language interpretation services are provided to allow athletes to feel the warmth of family affection while competing. On the other hand, the “Silent Cheer Team” cheered and cheered, and the “Little Dolphin” volunteers carried out sign language training in advance. During the competition, they cheered for the athletes through unified gestures, forming a unique “visual sound wave”.
Cultural integration activities add color. During the event, Sanshui District will present the intangible cultural heritage project – lion dance performance to all “friends” to watch, promoting the in-depth integration of sports and culture.

Double breakthroughs in “hard power” and “warm services” for disabled people
After the opening ceremony, the Guangdong Women’s Team took the lead against the Shanxi Women’s Team. Coach Liang Yi commented that the Sanshui competition venue has a beautiful environment and beautiful lawns. Player Huang Dandan also said that the environment and services at the Sanshui Stadium made her feel relaxed, and she believed that she would be more comfortable playing at home.

Looking back on the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, Sanshui District made multiple efforts to focus on the cause of persons with disabilities and achieved fruitful results. In terms of competition, Sanshui District athlete Lai Shanzhang won the silver medal in the track cycling mixed team racing event, achieving Sanshui’s “zero breakthrough” in Paralympic medals. He also won 3 world event medals, 4 national event medals, and 4 “provincial honors”, demonstrating the hard power of Sanshui competitive sports. In terms of security, a total of 136 million yuan has been invested in subsidies for disabled people to achieve “everything that should be covered”; it has purchased accident insurance for certified disabled people for four consecutive years, and has settled nearly 2 million yuan in claims; the payment rate for medical insurance and pension insurance for severely disabled people has reached 100%; and comprehensive care services Upgraded, adding 4 institutions, 80 beds, and care for mentally disabled people, and included it in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area reform pilot, with full coverage of centralized care for severely disabled people; completed more than 200 households with barrier-free renovations, and exceeded the provincial “14th Five-Year Plan” tasks. In terms of employment, the employment rate of disabled people reached 69.77%, an increase of 15.58% compared with the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, with 739 new jobs; full-chain employment assistance was carried out, and 487 people were trained, exceeding the target.
Lu Yongjian, an athlete from Sanshui Baini, represented the Guangdong team in the National Paralympic Special Olympics 11-a-side Deaf Football Tournament in May this year and won the championship. He served as the sign language training leader in this five-a-side Deaf Football Tournament. He said that he was very happy and honored to be able to serve the event in his hometown. He hoped that the athletes would achieve good results. He also welcomed everyone to taste more Sanshui delicacies after the competition, and especially recommended Sanshui special stinky vinegar.

From the “Foshan La Liga” to the Paralympic Games, Sanshui relies on a century of football accumulation and injects vitality into the silent stadium through efficient organization and humanistic care.
