Crisis in San Lorenzo: What is “acephaly”?
Club acephaly occurs when its main authorities cease to exercise their functionswhether due to resignation, death or disability. In the case of San Lorenzo, the situation was triggered by a series of mass resignations of key members of the Board of Directors.
The situation is comparable to what happens in the government of a country: if the president and vice president resign, the State is left without a figure to represent it and make decisions. In a club, the absence of stable and legitimized leadership leaves the institution adrift.
