Russia-Belarus Missile Move: Nuclear Escalation?

Russia has released a video in which it claims to have moved nuclear-capable Oreshnik missiles to neighboring ally Belarus, which borders NATO member states Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The measure would allow Moscow to deliver these projectiles to targets across Europe more quickly, in the midst of war.

According to the TASS news agency, it is the first time that the Russian Ministry of Defense has publicly exhibited the Oreshnik missile systems. Vladimir Putin has stated several times that these weapons are impossible to intercept because they supposedly travel 10 times faster than the speed of sound. And he also maintains that they have a destructive power comparable to that of a nuclear weapon.

The video from the Russian and Belarusian defense ministries did not specify where the missile systems were located in Belarus, but showed a wooded area where they were camouflaged with nets
