Roberto Carlos was hospitalized during a stay in his native Brazil. As the Spanish newspaper “AS” reports, the former world-class defender originally wanted to be examined for leg problems. However, doctors discovered a small blood clot.
Shock findings on examination
After further medical tests, an alarming finding emerged: Roberto Carlos’ heart was not working properly and his pumping capacity was severely limited. The doctors then decided to keep the 52-year-old in the hospital.

Emergency intervention necessary
Based on the diagnosis, immediate medical intervention was carried out. According to the report, the doctors inserted a catheter. The operation was originally scheduled to take around 40 minutes, but due to complications it lasted almost three hours.
Carlos remains under surveillance
Despite the difficulties, the operation was successful. Roberto Carlos is out of danger but remains under close medical observation. He should stay in the hospital for two more days to closely monitor the healing process.

The former soccer star spoke up to “AS” and said: “I’m feeling good again now.” According to the report, those around him also confirmed that he was doing well given the circumstances and that he was still being monitored.
