River defeated Chelsea 3-1 this Saturday in one of the semifinals of the Messi Cup, an under-16 club tournament played in Miami. In this way, the kids from the Nùñez entity secured a place in the definition of the octagonal.

The final and the defining match for third and fourth place will be played this Sunday at Chase Stadium, the venue where Inter Miami, current MLS champion, plays at home.

La Lepra ended its participation in the Messi Cup this Saturday with a victory on penalties against Inter Milan in a match for seventh and eighth place in the competition.
Newell’s and Inter tied 1-1, a period in which Iani Romero scored the only goal for the Rosario team. In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Juan Allegranza saved two shots to give the Rosario team the victory and seventh place.
WHAT THE TOURNAMENT IS LIKE
There are eight teams that were called to participate in the Messi Cup, and they are divided into two groups of four. The top two in each zone advance to the semifinals.
In group A, Newell’s competed with Inter Miami, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid. Meanwhile, River was part of Group B, along with Manchester City, Barcelona and Inter Milan. Each match lasts 80 minutes, in two 40-minute halves.
