For Rik De Mil’s first on the bench, La Gantoise was beaten on home soil by Antwerp this Sunday. The new T1 retains the good mentality of his players, but is aware that he still has a lot of work ahead of him.
La Gantoise lost 0-2 against Antwerp this Sunday. A result which logically caused great disappointment for Rik De Mil for his first on the Buffalos bench, he who hoped to start this new era on a more positive note.
“Obviously, we are very disappointed after this meeting, because we did not obtain the result that we hoped for,” he confided during his press conference at the Planet Group Arena.
Rik De Mil satisfied with the mentality and aware of the work to be done
“There weren’t a lot of chances, but we conceded goals following individual errors and transition phases. In this kind of match, it’s all about details and efficiency. We had our moments, but we need to do better in possession.”
“We have to improve with the ball. Be more dominant and create more chances. That’s the only way to take more points. But in terms of mentality, I can’t fault my players. Everyone gave everything, we tried everything.”

“With this state of mind, we can already go far and it’s a foundation on which we must build. Of course, I would have preferred a different result for this first match. But sometimes you have to fall to get back up better.”
