Revolut Unlimited Tariff: Months of Waiting & Broken Promises

Revolut has become famous practically all over the world thanks to its innovations in the field of digital banking. This probably also caused great enthusiasm when, at the turn of April and May, this fintech giant from Britain decided to compete with mobile operators with new tariffs.

As part of the announcement, the company’s representatives boasted that they will launch the new tariffs before the end of this year in Great Britain and Germany. They offered those interested an equal opportunity to register. Other markets were to follow, Revolut indirectly confirmed its ambitions to operate in the Czech Republic, as it wants to offer all its services globally.

Although there are still a few weeks left until the end of the year, there is no indication yet that we will see unlimited tariffs with an attractive price tag. Only during the fall, the company published a challenge on the Reddit social network, asking people what they expected from the new tariffs and what would make them leave their current operators.

“We don’t have a release date yet”

At the same time, the discussion is conducted on the mentioned platform until today. In recent weeks, the same question has been repeated: When will the new tariffs be issued?

People from Revolut support recently responded to repeated questions, but the answer probably won’t make customers happy. “Thank you for your interest in mobile tariffs! We do not have a confirmed release date yet, but as soon as we have it, we will share this information with you,” the company’s representatives promised.

Everything indicates that this year the offer will not be launched even in the notified markets, i.e. in Germany and Great Britain. And this despite the fact that people are obviously very interested in unlimited tariffs. When they will finally be available, they also discuss in other threads on Reddit. “This was supposed to be real competition for operators. What happened to this offer?” one commenter asked last month.

He learned from other discussants that similar delays are unfortunately normal for Revolut.

“Revolut announced the launch of the Belgian branch in December 2022 with a three-month delay, effectively confirming it for March 2023. However, it was finally launched only in July 2024,” one of the discussants said.

What will the new tariffs offer?

Revolut’s monthly mobile plans boast unlimited calls, texts and unlimited data in the home country. In addition, they will offer a 20GB roaming limit in Europe and the US.

The tariff should cost 12.5 pounds, i.e. 345 CZK in conversion. “All this with a local phone number and without fixed contractual obligations,” highlighted another advantage of Revolut representatives. However, unlike traditional operators, they will not offer physical SIM cards, but only eSIMs.

For comparison: domestic operators offer unlimited tariffs from around CZK 600. Although the stated price does indeed include an unlimited amount of data, it has a significantly limited data transfer speed. If you really want unlimited data – that is, in terms of quantity and speed, you can easily pay 2,000 CZK in the country.
