Football Association to “Riyadh”: There is no truth to Renard’s dismissal
Riyadh received a clarification from the Communications and Media Department of the Saudi Football Federation, which included a denial of the news of the dismissal of the coach of the first Saudi national team, Mr. Hervé Renard, and in the interest of freedom of publication, opinion, and other opinion, we would like to publish the clarification, which came as follows: –
“Gentlemen of Al-Riyadh newspaper… May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you… With reference to what was published in your newspaper today, Tuesday, 7/12/2025, under the title “Al-Riyadh sources confirm: Hervé Renard was exempted from training Al-Akhdar.” We confirm that there is no truth to the published news, and we are pleased to have you contact us to obtain official information. The French coach, who led the Greens to qualify for the World Cup finals twice, will lead the final match of our first national football team in the Arab Cup tomorrow against the UAE national team, which will determine the third and fourth places.
Renard received violent criticism following Al-Akhdar’s defeat by his Jordanian counterpart with a clean goal in the semi-finals of the Arab Cup.
Renard had previously warned of the impact of the large number of foreign players in the Saudi League on the national team level, in light of the lack of participation of key players with their clubs.
