Relegated at the time of this festive break, FC Nantes has the obligation to strengthen itself in the winter transfer window. And to believe West Francethe Canaries signed their first player on Christmas Eve in the person of Rémy Cabella. The 35-year-old midfielder is on loan to Waldemar Kita’s club until the end of the season from Olympiakos. And the Greek club has not provided a purchase option in this quickly concluded file. Lacking playing time on the Piraeus side, the player trained in Montpellier accepted the challenge proposed by the Kita, namely allowing FC Nantes to remain in Ligue 1.
The Nantes leaders have already blown the coaching fuse, by dismissing Luis Castro to replace him with Ahmed Kantari, but they know that this will not be enough. The Canaries have often played with fire in recent seasons, but this time they are clearly in trouble. For Rémy Cabella, it’s a quick return to Ligue 1, since the midfielder left LOSC during the last summer transfer window. For two weeks, his signing in Nantes was announced, however the two clubs still had to finalize the contractual details, in particular concerning the salary which is entirely covered by the current 17th in Ligue 1. It is now done, and Rémy Cabella will be available to his new coach as soon as training resumes after the end-of-year holidays.
