The party was ruined. Monday evening, following Reims’ large victory over Laval (4-0), during the 16th day of the Ligue 2 football championship, incidents broke out between a group of Reims supporters and the police.
The situation began to degenerate when, after the match, a member of the local Ultrems supporters attempted to enter the pitch at the Delaune stadium for a reason still unknown. A fight then allegedly broke out between the individual and a steward.
The one who would be one of the leaders of the Ultrems would then have been arrested by the police for trespassing on the ground and violence and immediately placed in police custody. The evacuation of the stadium then took place in a tense context.
According to our information, members of the Ultrems then recovered mortars and targeted the police in one of the parking lots of the sports venue.
The officers present then reportedly returned fire to disperse the individuals. A police officer was slightly injured after being shot in the shoulder with a mortar. He reportedly suffered burns to his scalp and a hearing problem. He was taken to hospital for treatment. An investigation is underway.
