Referee Attack: 4 Players Suspended – Celta Vigo Match

Excluded during or after the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo this Sunday (0-2), Alvaro Carreras, Endrick and Dani Carvajal received two match suspensions, while Fran Garcia escaped with only one match.

The Madrilenians are paying for their immense frustration. Defeated for the first time this season on their lawn in La Liga against Celta Vigo this Sunday (2-0), the Real Madrid players were completely out of their depth at the end of the match.

Overwhelmed in the game and frustrated by certain refereeing decisions, Xabi Alonso’s men finished the match with nine men after the expulsions of the two Spanish full-backs Fran Garcia (65th) and Alvaro Carreras (90th+2), under the whistles of their audience. After a decision by the La Liga disciplinary committee, the first received a one-match suspension while the second will be suspended two matches for having made remarks or had a “contemptuous or disrespectful” attitude towards the referee.

Carvajal suspended, but injured

According to the match report, Endrick, although permanently on the bench this season, was also sent off for “getting up from the bench, leaving the technical area, shouting at the fourth official and having to be restrained by members of the technical staff”. For this action, the Brazilian was also suspended for two matches.

Same sanction for Dani Carvajal, currently injured. The Spaniard challenged the referee in the Bernabeu tunnel after the final whistle. “Once the match was over, in the tunnel leading to the locker room, I recognized the player, Mr. Daniel Carvajal Ramos, in civilian clothes and not in sports clothing, who addressed me in these terms: ‘Your refereeing is pitiful, and after you, you cry in a press conference,'” the official wrote in his report.

These four players are not the only ones to have raised their voice towards the evening referee. According to Spanish broadcasters, Jude Bellingham insulted the fourth official with “fucking idiot” while Rodrygo tried to intimidate the main referee by showing the club crest: “You have to respect, look where you are. You have to respect!”
