Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who suffered a broken fibula on Saturday during a Premier League match against Tottenham, has undergone ankle surgery, Liverpool announced on Monday night (22), without specifying the duration of the player’s absence.
“Alexander Isak underwent successful surgery today,” the Merseyside club wrote in a statement. According to Liverpool, the 26-year-old suffered an “ankle injury, including a fractured fibula.” The center forward “will continue his recovery… no return date has been defined yet”, added the club.
Signed from Newcastle last summer for a record sum of 145 million euros (around R$953 million at the current price), Isak was injured when he scored the first goal at Tottenham’s stadium, in a game in the 17th round of the English championship, after a challenge with Spurs defender, Micky van de Ven. Liverpool ended up winning the match 2-1.
