Swiss Junior Championships in Widen
Ainara Lara Putri from Fislisbach was able to receive a medal twice at the Swiss Junior Badminton Championships. In the U17 age group, together with her partner Sara Nina Fritzsche, she achieved an excellent second place in the women’s doubles and also secured the bronze medal in the women’s singles.
Even more would have been possible in both disciplines with a little more luck and consistency. In the singles semifinals, Putri only lost in the third set after winning the first set. The women’s doubles final was also extremely exciting and went into extra time, where they narrowly had to admit defeat 20:22.
Ainara Lara Putri learned to play badminton at BC Fislisbach and has been playing in the Interclub there for many years. Since this season, the talented young player has been part of the National League B team of Team Argovia. BC Fislisbach is part of the Team Argovia gaming association and Putri contributes to the team’s success with strong performances.
Ainara Lara Putri is a member of the U17 national badminton squad of Switzerland. In the summer, she achieved her greatest success by winning the silver medal in the mixed doubles U17 at the European Youth Olympic Games 2025 in Skopje.
Other players from the region were also able to qualify for the junior championships and achieve good results. Maximilian Fischer (Badminton Mutschellen) won 3rd place in the men’s singles U15 in his home hall. Tomáš Phu and Aryan Azhan (both BC Gibstorf), who took third place in the men’s doubles U17, were also able to celebrate bronze. In the men’s singles, Aryan Azhan lost in the round of 16 to the eventual winner of his age category, while Tomáš Phu was eliminated in the quarter-finals after an extremely close three-set match with 19:21 in the deciding set. The major event with five disciplines in four age categories (U13 to U19) took place in the Burkertsmatt sports hall in Widen. Thanks to the extensive experience of the organizers, the tournament ran smoothly and very successfully. (zVg)
