Trying hard to get out of the bottom of the standings and stay in League 1, PSIS Semarang carried out a major overhaul by removing four players and bringing in new ammunition ahead of the restart of the competition.
Laskar Mahesa Jenar, which is now under new management, is taking quick steps to evaluate after a series of poor results in Liga 1 2025/2026. This reshuffle was carried out while waiting for the player transfer market to open in the near future.
“PSIS Semarang released four players in the continuation of the 2025/2026 League 1 competition,” said Reza, Operations Manager of PSIS Semarang.
After going through evaluations and discussions with the players, management decided to release four players who were considered less productive, namely Basajum Latuconsina, Ade Ivan, Widi Syarief, and Zico Uldha.
Facing the continuation of the competition, especially the away match against PS Barito Putera on Saturday (27/12), PSIS Semarang under the leadership of new coach Jafri Sastra brought in two experienced players, Wawan Febrianto and Ocvian Chanigio.
Wawan Febrianto, a winger who is no stranger to PSIS, previously played for the Laskar Mahesa Jenar team in the 2022 season.
Meanwhile, Ocvian Chanigio, a player from Temanggung, previously played for Persela Lamongan and has experience with PSS Sleman and PSIM Yogyakarta.
“It is hoped that these two players will be able to improve PSIS Semarang in the continuation of the 2025/2026 League 1 competition,” added Reza.
On the other hand, the General Chair of Panzer Biru, Wareng, revealed that a major overhaul will continue in the transfer market next January. A number of strong players are starting to be targeted, including foreign attacking midfielders.
“One of the targets of PSIS Semarang is Ali Nouri, an attacking midfielder from Iran who holds Iranian and Azerbaijani passports,” said Wareng.
Ali Nouri is currently a free agent after recovering from a serious injury he suffered while still in Persipura Jayapura uniform last season. (AS/P-5)
