Libertadores Cup champion Flamengo reached the final by beating Mexican team Cruz Azul 2-1 in the second round and Egypt’s Pyramids team 2-0 in the play-offs. Having won the UEFA Champions League, PSG earned the right to take part directly in the final.
Last year, the Spanish team Real Madrid won the cup, defeating Mexican representative Pachuca 3-0 in the final.
