Strong comeback from Aston Villa in the top game of the Premier League at Chelsea. Despite a weak first half, the Villans turned the game around and ultimately won 2-1 (0-1) at Stamford Bridge.
The player of the game was Ollie Watkins, who scored a brace after coming on as a substitute (63’/84′). The third-place team continued their impressive winning streak – it was their eighth league success in a row.
Joao Pedro had previously rewarded the Blues with a 1-0 lead in a strong and one-sided first half after just over half an hour. Aston Villa achieved next to nothing in the first 45 minutes.
Premier League: Watkins turns game with a brace
But after the break it was a completely different game at Stamford Bridge and the guests turned up the heat. Watkins, who came into the game just before the hour mark, ultimately decided the game.
With the victory, the Villans stay close to Manchester City and leaders Arsenal, who also won their games.
