Prague Views: Best Spots & Angles

The young man is used to working and living abroad, where you loft living liked very much. In the case of an apartment in a new development project, he was particularly interested in the view of Prague. He wished open availabilitywhich will emphasize the outside view even more. The interior design is the work of architect Michaela Záhorovská, founder of the atelier of the same name. Her work won points in the Interior of the Year competition, whose main media partner is Seznam.cz. She won in the Journalist Award category.

A magical dressing room

The generous view of Prague really became a key element of the design, and the author took it into account in all zones of the apartment. It can be enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa, from the kitchen island, from the bed on the gallery, but also from the guest room.

She adapted the layout of the apartment to the young man’s lifestyle, emphasizing spaciousness and functionality. The interior includes a so-called gallery, where a free-standing bed is located.

It follows on from it generous walk-in closet separated by a glass partition with a mirror effect. This feature allows natural daylight to enter the dressing room. When lighting in the dressing room, this space becomes visible and the owner can view his pieces. If, on the other hand, it is turned off, the partition functions as a full-fledged mirror, which optically enlarges the entire space.

True industrial with daylight

In the interior, the original reinforced concrete wall remained, which contrasts with the fine core plasters. The application of soft gray color elegantly suppresses the imperfections of reinforced concrete beam ceilings. The floor covering of the highest quality adds warmth and coziness to the apartment without disturbing it industrial character of the space.

A distinctive element is the glazed steel partition, which allows daylight to penetrate into the guest room. The steel structure of the floor as well as the furniture elements, such as the technological cabinet, remained in their raw form. Michaela Záhorovská had the welds on the structure lightly sanded to preserve the authentic industrial look of the interior.

The bathroom, which the architect describes as a purely men’s room, is also worth mentioning. They had it tuned to darker tones combining a black concrete screed with an unconventional format of ceramic tiles. A metal sink and smoke taps underline the overall tone of the bathroom, or the entire men’s apartment.
