Pļaviņš & Fokerot: Beach Volleyball Semifinals

As already reported, Pļaviņš/Fokerots lost in the second round of the playoffs today, but qualified for the 1/4 finals as “lucky losers”.

Tonight the Latvians started strong – 8:0 (Fokerot blocked four times, Pļaviņš served, Pļaviņš played twice in defense, the Chilean hit the net). The start-up capital was sufficient to achieve success – 21:18.

During the game, the thermometer showed 24 degrees.

→ → At the beginning of the next set, Foquerot put up a block (3:1), but later the result became 4:5 when the Chilean broke through. The difference increased to three points (8:11), but Pļaviņš took it twice in defense and shot well – 11:12, 13:13. The Chileans responded with two points, while Fokerot blocked in three plays in a row – 18:16. In the continuation, the result became 19:19 and 21:22. The biggest successes of Pļaviņas/Fokerot this season – the “top 4” of the Itapema elite, the fourth position in the elite of Hamburg and Rio de Janeiro, as well as the fifth place in the elite of Brasilia, Ostrava and Newport.

As already reported, the world championship took place in Adelaide last month, where Graudiņa/Samoilova and Pļaviņš/Fokerots won the first and 17th place, respectively.
