Pardubice captain Lukáš Sedlák was the main character of the emotional match in Pilsen. He caught several shots in the match, he was felt a lot on the ice, the home team paid a lot of attention to him. In the end, he was the one who left the ice more satisfied after the 2:1 win, in addition with the winning notch on his stock.
The end of the match in Pilsen? Really emotional. The development of the duel between Škodovka and Pardubice did not leave the Pardubice captain Sedlák cold either, who became the hero of the evening with the winning goal. However, according to him, heated emotions belong to the endings of close matches. “They tried it on us in every possible way. When you lead by a goal, it’s a classic, I wouldn’t look for anything special in that,” he said after the match.
But the tension continued even after the whistle blew in one of the situations where Sedlák found himself in the center of the fight. “I think it was the Castle (Petr Zámorský, editor’s note). It was already a few seconds after the interruption, he came from behind and put a small piece in my throat. That probably pissed me off the most,” he described the situation, during which his emotions were very visible.
The decisive moment came in the third period, when Sedlák scored the difference. “I already had one chance there before, when it was close. We went two-on-two with Roman, he shot and I was ready for a stop. The goalkeeper wanted to cover it with a catcher, but I managed to nudge it maybe a millisecond earlier,” he described the decisive situation.
He himself admitted that it was also a bit of a happy moment. “Yeah, but in games like this, contested goals are scored. I’m glad we made it,” he added.
A very important role was also played by the successful coaching challenge of Pardubice at the beginning of the match. “Definitely an excellent challenge. If the goal had been valid, we could have lost 0:2 and the match would have looked completely different. This way it remained 0:1 and we could have played more patiently. It was a very important moment,” emphasized Sedlák.
“I think it was Castle. It was a few seconds after the break and he came up from behind and put the little thing in my throat. That probably pissed me off the most.”
According to him, this situation had an effect on the psyche of both teams. “Sometimes it slows you down, the other team can kick it up, but it can also be the other way around. I think we played patient hockey today. We helped ourselves with a power play when we equalized at 1:1, and then we gradually went for the decision,” he evaluated his team’s performance.
The triumph in Pilsen was all the more valuable for Dynamo, as the last success in the west of Bohemia came almost two years ago, and Škodovka won the last five duels between them. “Personally, I’ve never won here in the extra league and I don’t think I’ve even scored against them here. I’m all the more glad that it broke today,” he admitted.
He also had to face the screams of the home fans during the match. “I guess I feel it, but somehow I don’t take it for granted. It was even better that I scored the winning goal after the first shout. That’s the best answer,” smiled the Pardubice leader. And as he himself briefly added: “It came back with interest.”
