Piastri on Team Orders: No Immediate Discussion

Oscar Piastri doesn’t seem to be interested in team orders from McLaren. The Australian, who will start third during the all-decisive Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, was confronted with CEO’s previous statements after qualifying. Zak Brown. Piastri then said that they will “talk about it later.”

Today it becomes clear who will be the 2025 Formula 1 world champion. Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Piastri all still have a chance of winning the championship in the premier class of motor racing. But since Piastri is in the worst shape, perhaps he should play second fiddle.

Brown suggested team orders at McLaren

Ahead of qualifying in Abu Dhabi, Brown revealed that McLaren is still willing to give Norris the advantage. Since the Brit is leading the World Cup, Piastri could be in charge. The Australian has now been confronted with Brown’s statements, but he seems to have little interest in it.

“We will talk about it later. I have not had any direct conversations about it yet,” Piastri said after qualifying. Sky Sports. “But until Max or Lando crosses the finish line before me, I’m still in. We’ll see what that looks like tomorrow,” the Australian added venomously.

Title battle is wide open in Abu Dhabi

The tension is high in the F1 title fight. Verstappen took pole position, ahead of Norris and Piastri who took the second and third starting spots. If the Dutchman wins the race and Norris falls out of the podium, the Red Bull Racing driver takes his fifth world title and McLaren misses it for the second time in a row.

But Piastri also still has a chance. The Australian is 16 points behind his teammate, but his past in Abu Dhabi reveals that he could easily become the laughing third. “But of course to win the championship I need more than just winning the race. We’ll see what that entails.”
