Basketball champions FC Bayern have recorded their next victory under Svetislav Pesic and cemented their lead in the BBL. In a catch-up game on matchday 11, the Munich team won against newly promoted Trier 94:83 (56:42) on Sunday.
In the last home game of the year, world and European champion Andreas Obst was Munich’s most successful thrower with 15 points. At Trier, Jordan Roland stood out with 24 points. In front of 11,500 spectators in the sold-out SAP Garden, FCB celebrated their eleventh win in their twelfth league game. Trier is still third in the table despite their fourth defeat. The 84th and final competitive game for FC Bayern in 2025 follows New Year’s Eve at the Rostock Seawolves.
The 76-year-old Pesic was surprisingly installed last Monday as the successor to the dismissed Gordon Herbert. The successful Serbian coach, coach of the German European champion team in 1993, signed a contract until the end of the season. As FCB sports director Dragan Tarlac said on broadcaster Dyn during half-time of the game, there had been no discussion about filling the head coach position for the coming season. Pesic brought the “fresh input” that was promised.
