Pelé Heart Surgery: Football Icon Undergoes Operation

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has been admitted to hospital due to heart problems, reports include The Daily Mail. The former Real Madrid footballer underwent a three-hour operation due to complications.

The 52-year-old Brazilian was tested near his home for a blood clot in his leg. However, an MRI scan showed that the former footballer’s heart was not functioning properly. Carlos was supposed to have a 45-minute operation, but multiple sources say the operation lasted almost three hours due to problems.

It is not the first time in 2025 that the Brazilian attacker has had medical problems. Carlos was scheduled to visit the Super League in Nepal in April, but his trip was rescheduled at the last minute due to sudden illness. The former attacker was able to travel to Kathmandu for the finals a few days later.

Carlos had a rich football career and switched from Internazionale to Real Madrid in 1996. The Brazilian played eleven seasons for the Royal Dutch, during which he won the Spanish national title four times and reached the final of the Champions League three times. In 2002, he provided the winning assist on Zinedine Zidane’s goal.
