PBL 2026: Format & Start Date Revealed

The Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) announced this Monday December 22 the start date of the 2026 season. Likewise, the highest sports tournament in the heights also published the competition format for the following campaign.

After the recent General Assembly between the owners of each franchise of the highest category of Venezuelan basketball, it was confirmed that the action on the boards will officially begin on March 7. One of the new features of the next campaign is the reduction to 13 teams, because the Toros de Aragua quintet decided not to participate this year to adjust the team.

Among the teams that will compete in a unified “All against All” format will be present:

  • Caracas crocodiles
  • Zulia Brilliants
  • Miranda Devils
  • Frontinos of Táchira
  • Guaiqueríes de Margarita
  • Zulia Pipers
  • Falcon Heroes
  • Marines of Anzoátegui
  • Miranda Panthers
  • Pioneers of Ávila
  • Pirates of La Guaira
  • Capital District Spartans
  • Carabobo Globetrotter

Unlike the previous season, where teams were divided into geographical conferences, for 2026 the Regular Round will be played under a round-robin format in a single table, where each team must play a total of 24 commitments (12 at home and 12 as a visitor).
