KOMPAS.com – PSG won the 2025 Intercontinental Cup after winning the penalty shootout against Flamengo.
The 2025 Intercontinental Cup PSG vs Flamengo match will be held at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Doha, Qatar, Wednesday (17/12/2025) or Thursday morning WIB.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) opened the scoring first thanks to a kick from a player from Georgia, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (38′).
Jorginho then equalized the score via his penalty kick in the 62nd minute which beat Matvey Safonov.
The 1-1 score lasted until the 90 minutes ended. In two rounds of extra time, additional goals were never scored.
So, a penalty shootout had to be held to determine the winner. PSG won the 2025 Intercontinental Cup after winning 2-1 on penalties over Flamengo.
PSG goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, became a hero after saving four penalties from Flamengo players.

PSG, who came as champions of the Champions League, immediately appeared to bite. In the fifth minute Luis Enrique’s team was able to threaten through Joao Neves’ volley, following a dead ball situation.
However, Joao Neves’ efforts were not on target. PSG were then able to shake Flamengo’s goal net in the 18th minute through Fabian Ruiz’s kick.
Fabian Ruiz took advantage of Flamengo goalkeeper Agustin Rossi’s imperfect sweep. However, after consulting with VAR (Video Assistant Referee) the referee did not approve the goal.
Before being swept by Agustin Rossi, the ball apparently had crossed the line, so the referee declared out and a corner kick for PSG.
PSG only really broke into Flamengo’s goal seven minutes before the end of the first half.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerged as the deadlock breaker in the match after successfully poking in Desire Doue’s pass which Agustin Rossi failed to reach perfectly.
PSG still appeared to be pressing at the start of the second half. The team alias Les Parisiens came to threaten through Joao Neves’ hard kick.
Paris Saint-Germain’s advantage did not increase because Agustin Rossi caught the ball.
