Nobel laureate Maria Corina Machado appears together with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who introduces her.
– You couldn’t be there yesterday, but your presence was strong, he says.
He describes Machado’s fight for basic democratic rights, at a time when democracy is threatened.
– It has cost you and your family a lot.
Machado begins by addressing “the citizens of all the world”.
– I have hope, Venezuela will be free and the lighthouse it was before, when refugees took refuge there.
According to Machado, there is no democracy if there is no freedom.
– We have great admiration for Norway as an example and we will transform Venezuela into an energy, democracy and technology hub for South America.
She is asked if she supports the US invading Venezuela.
– Venezuela is already invaded, by foreign agents, drug cartels, criminal gangs. We call on the international community to break the arms and drug flows.
