OGC Nice Fans Protest Lorient Defeat

It was a rough homecoming for OGC Nice after their latest defeat. Following their sixth consecutive loss across all competitions, a 3-1 drubbing at teh hands of FC Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday, the Nice players found themselves facing the ire of their own supporters upon their late-night return to the training center.

Reports from outlets like Ici Azur and RMC Sport indicate that approximately 400 passionate Nice fans, known as the Aiglons, gathered outside the club’s gates around 11 p.m. They were waiting for the team bus, armed with smoke bombs and a palpable sense of frustration. The atmosphere quickly turned heated, with chants urging the players to “get off your ass” echoing through the night.

Moffi and Boga in the Crosshairs: were Blows Exchanged?

The Nice squad, forced to navigate through a dense crowd and with only a few dozen stewards and security personnel for protection, faced a barrage of criticism. terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga were reportedly singled out for their on-field performance. Ici Azur noted that Moffi had his cap snatched, while RMC Sport maintained that “there were no excesses or inappropriate gestures.”

However, L’Équipe painted a more concerning picture on Monday evening, quoting an unnamed witness who claimed Moffi’s hair was “pulled” and that he received “around ten blows, including some to the groin.” Boga, who has faced accusations of providing tickets to Marseille supporters for a previous match, was also reportedly struck on the head, torso, and private parts, according to the sports daily.

Franck Haise Applauded, Club President Absent

Another figure drawing the fans’ ire was sporting director Florian Maurice. He was allegedly pushed and required escorting to the club’s parking lot by security. In stark contrast, head coach Franck Haise was met with cheers from the ultras as he disembarked the bus. Haise, who had previously asked club leadership to “be the shock absorber” following a heavy defeat to Marseille, engaged in a nearly hour-long discussion with supporters. Sofiane Diop, Melvin Bard, and to a lesser extent, Morgan Sanson, Ali Abdi, and Tom Louchet, also participated in the conversation.

Notably absent from the scene was club president Fabrice Bocquet. Jean-Pierre Rivère’s successor reportedly made himself scarce immediately after landing, with his car waiting for him at the airport rather than the training center. As of Monday evening, neither OGC Nice nor any of the players had issued a public statement regarding the incident.
