OGC Nice, in difficulty in Ligue 1 and the Europa League, announced on Friday the departure of Fabrice Bocquet, CEO of the club since the start of the season, “by mutual agreement”, as well as the return of former leaders Jean-Pierre Rivère and Maurice Cohen, as president and vice-president.
“OGC Nice and Fabrice Bocquet announce that they have decided by mutual agreement to end their collaboration (…) as of this day,” the club indicated in a press release, adding that “the two former presidents Jean-Pierre Rivère and Maurice Cohen were appointed respectively as president and deputy vice-president.”
A deleterious climate
The reasons for this break, in good terms, can be explained mainly by the very difficult climate linked to the crisis and the incidents that occurred between supporters and players a few weeks ago. According to our information, the sporting levers that Fabrice Bocquet proposed were unsuccessful and the status quo which reigned within the club’s management no longer suited him.
The internal misalignment exposed on several occasions by his trainer Franck Haise also got the better of his place. The announcement was made to the club’s teams today and aroused emotion among certain employees.
Fabrice Bocquet arrived at the club in November 2022 as general manager before taking over, in August 2025, as president from Jean-Pierre Rivère, involved in politics alongside Éric Ciotti in the conquest of Nice town hall. Maurice Cohen was the president of Nice in 2002, during the club’s rise to Ligue 1.
