Odisha Masters 2025: Hooda & George Claim Badminton Titles

India’s Unnati Hooda and Kiran George claimed the women’s and men’s singles titles, respectively, at the Odisha Masters 2025 badminton tournament, which concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Cuttack, on Sunday.

In the women’s singles final, top seed Unnati Hooda produced a composed performance to defeat compatriot Isharani Baruah 21-17, 21-10 in just over half an hour.

Unnati Hooda, 28th in the women’s singles badminton rankingscontrolled the rallies from the outset, denying world No. 53 Baruah the momentum that had powered her impressive run in the BWF Super 100 badminton tournament.

Despite the loss, Baruah capped a memorable week with a well-earned silver medal after a series of standout performances.

For Hooda, who beat two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu at the China Open earlier this year, this was her third BWF Super 100 title and ended a two-year title drought on the BWF circuit.

Her maiden triumph was also at the Odisha Masters in 2022 before claiming the Abu Dhabi Masters a year later.

The men’s singles final witnessed a gripping contest, with second seed Kiran George prevailing over Indonesia’s Muhamad Yusuf 21-14, 13-21, 21-16 in a hard-fought three-game battle.

World No. 41 Kiran George, who won the Odisha Masters title in 2022, took the opening game before Yusuf fought back to level the match. Showing resilience and tactical clarity, Kiran George closed out the decider to secure the title after an hour on court.

Indonesia enjoyed success in the mixed doubles, where Marwan Faza and Aisyah Pranata defeated compatriots Dejan Ferdinansyah/Bernadine Wardana 21-15, 21-10.

In women’s doubles, Bulgaria’s top seeds Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva overcame Malaysia’s Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting 21-19, 21-14.

The men’s doubles crown went to Indonesia’s Ali Faathir Rayhan and Devin Artha Wahyudi, who rallied past Malaysia’s Khang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai 15-21, 21-12, 21-16.
