A nutritionist destroys the Real Madrid staff!

In this long interview given to the Spanish press, Itziar González de Arriba made enormous revelations, which will cause a lot of noise in Spain. As she explained, her arrival in Madrid dates back to the end of the 21-22 season. Everything starts from a presidential desire from Florentino Perez, at a time when muscle injuries are recurrent. At the beginning, she only takes care of two players: Rodrygo and Carvajal. During the 23-24 season, the club assigned her again to take care of Carvajal and Arda Güler. But all this time, she faces many internal obstacles. She explains that she had no support, quite the contrary… “The doctors tell them not to do it and they tell me that my work is useless. When Carvajal asks me for help again when he is injured. I am called to join the whole team. I say that I cannot, because they do not respect my work. (…) I accept because they tell me that it is a personal request from the president and that he will make sure that the doctors let me work and respect me. I must say that I admire the figure enormously. of Florentino Pérez, I have great respect for him and a lot of affection, and I come with the sole aim of doing my job well and so that Florentino can be proud of me.” But despite the promises made by management, nothing happens. “The medical services create a hostile environment from the first minute. The first day, they tell me that I am there for a whim of the president, that he does everything they want, and that they are going to manipulate him to convince him that I am crazy and that he is throwing me out. They do not introduce me, do not greet me, do not speak to me. They never meet me, they do not respond to my e-mails or messages. They only speak to me sometimes when they pass me in the corridors to tell me that I’m doing everything wrong and that the president says not to talk to anyone, not to leave a gloomy cabin, not to talk to the players, not to do anything, that people don’t want me there, that the players (who don’t even know I’m there) disgust me.” She is also the target of false accusations, which are quite serious to say the least. “The first week I’m accused of stealing an entire batch of supplements and I manage to prove that I wasn’t, but I’m scared and afterwards I always communicate in writing so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Despite everything, she claims to have received help from the president in person, to continue being able to work. “Doctors and a physical therapist constantly give me orders from the president. Basically, that I hide and do nothing, but the president comes in person to tell me what he wants me to do, which is totally different from the orders that were given to me supposedly “from the president”. So I’m doing exactly what the president asks me to do.” But for all that, this hostile climate and this unbreathable environment do not stop. “They give me all kinds of problems for doing the job: at the buffet, they put foods that I don’t recommend; the waitress makes fun of me and continually tells the players not to listen to me, that I have no idea; the cook doesn’t put what I ask him and puts what he thinks, like pre-cooked pastries; the manager doesn’t buy what I recommend; the waiter who has to prepare the supplements puts different supplements from what I say; the doctors and the “Physiotherapists tell players not to follow my instructions, they don’t give me information about how the players are or what they give them (medications, vitamins, etc.), even though I insist not to interact with supplements because it could be bad for them… They constantly make fun of me, make fun in WhatsApp groups, tell players to take different things than what I say.” A lunar situation for a club of this size. She says that the players still wanted to listen to her, and follow her instructions, at home “due to the impossibility of doing so in Valdebebas.” A work which according to her, was even recognized in the team locker room. Which then caused a wave of jealousy within the Real Madrid staff. “There are two of these players who tell me that they tell the president directly. The fact that players say it and relate it to the guidelines that have changed nutrition and supplements generates hatred of medical services and buffet staff unbearable for me, and 13 days after signing the contract I ask to break it and not return. But I’m told from management that the players and the president want him to be there and hold on, that they’re going to resolve everything.”

But the situation will never improve. She will often be pushed aside to avoid any potential internal tension. “Faced with the hostile situation, the management sent me home and they did not let me go to the match.(…) They called me to a meeting with a sponsor and he told me that he was friends with the doctors, that they had already managed to have me expelled by the president, but that they were going to try to humiliate me.” After this long period of harassment against her, she received a call from management to thank her for her work. “The nutrition service is canceled.”

Faced with this “horrible experience”, Itzar decided to take legal action in Spain. “I’m filing a complaint despite the fact that they ‘advise’ me not to do it and they tell me that I have no chance of winning, and what’s more, they’re going to ruin my life. I tell you it’s not about winning or losing, I just want the president, the players and the people I care about to know the truth. (…) But I still have nightmares every night. I want to close this chapter forever and I feel that as long as I won’t say it, I won’t be able to shut it up.”
