Firecrackers are not toys

The police remind that pyrotechnic devices are not toys. These are explosive substances that can cause severe, permanent and even fatal consequences. Citizens are urged to behave responsibly and warn of the dangers of illegal purchase and improper use of pyrotechnics.

Special advice is addressed to parents. The police urges children not to give pyrotechnics as gifts and to set a good example. Children should be explained not to touch unactivated pyrotechnics and to immediately ask for help from adults.

Who can use pyrotechnics?

The police emphasize that the best prevention is not to use pyrotechnics, because the holidays can be celebrated without danger. Citizens are not allowed to purchase, possess or use firecrackers and firecrackers of category F2 and F3 and pyrotechnic devices of category F4, P1, P2, T1 and T2 for personal use.

Pyrotechnics of categories F2 and F3 may only be used by adults, from December 27 to January 2. Children under the age of 14 may not use pyrotechnics. If they do that, the parents will be sanctioned as a misdemeanor.

The use of pyrotechnics is prohibited in closed spaces and in places where a large number of citizens gather, except for pyrotechnic devices of category F1.
