North Holland Province Continues Commitment to Diverse Sports Funding in 2026
Building on the success of its initiatives in 2024 and 2025, the province of North Holland is set to allocate another €100,000 in sponsorship funds for 2026. This funding aims to support a wide array of sporting events hosted within the province, emphasizing inclusivity for both major professional competitions and smaller, niche tournaments.
Over the past two years, the province has backed fifty distinct sporting events, spanning disciplines such as wheelchair tennis, badminton, water polo, mountain biking, inline skating, cycling, and gymnastics. The program’s core objective is to bridge the gap between elite and recreational sports. As Deputy Jeroen Olthof stated,We see that top sporting events are frequently enough a source of inspiration for young people and associations. By supporting a greater variety of sports and events, we want to bring more people into contact with and inspire enthusiasm for the most diverse sports.
