It’s the story of a strong bonding friendship Laurent Vincent et Olivier Jamesa friendship who will take a common professional trajectory since the two forty-year-olds, born in Caen, are developing an ambitious project.
Laurent Vincent, 48 years old, is in a civil partnership and has 2 children aged 18 and 14. He has held a senior technician certificate in electrotechnical engineering since 1999. He has 25 years of experience in the automotive industry as a technical referent.
Olivier James, 45 years old, is married and has 1 child aged 14. In 2005, he obtained his engineering degree in industrial engineering from the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Étienne in 2005. He has 20 years of experience in the agri-food industry as a technical manager, including 8 years in Falaise in the agri-food company Tartefrais, which has since become Hafner.
The project takes place in the Corsican mountains
The two acolytes are very proud to announce the creation of a modern sports complex in Falaise, designed to meet the expectations of sports and leisure enthusiasts. “This ambitious project aims to provide a place for everyone to meet and practice, in a friendly and dynamic setting,” they note.
We’ve had this project in mind for a while. Everything settled during our GR20 last June. During this walk in the Corsican mountains, we had time to think about it. And we said to ourselves that we had to get started, get down to business.
Laurent Vincent and Olivier James want to bring this project to fruition all the more because the first is undergoing professional retraining and the second wanted to evolve.
“We contacted banks. And our business plan was accepted.” An important first step for them.
A convivial space of 160 m2
“We have been playing padel together for 5 years. The associative environment, sport and challenges have brought us together since our childhood. It’s a project focused on sport and it is, for us, the realization of a common ambition.”
What are the details of this design?
We want a complex encompassing 4 latest generation padel courts for intense games accessible to all levels. There will be 2 badminton courts that can be adapted to pickleball in order to diversify activities and adapt to sporting trends.
“We responded to the call for demonstrations of public interest from Falaise town hall, even if we did not check the boxes.” For the two partners, the opening of this complex is scheduled for 2027 with work starting in the first half of 2026. The location would be located in the industrial zone of the Guibray district.
“The building, a former company, will have a surface area of between 1500 and 2000m2. Our thinking concerns purchase or rental,” explains Olivier James. Within this complex, there would also be a 160m2 conviviality space, ideal for relaxing, sharing a moment with family or friends and organizing events.
“Promote sport for all”
Laurent Vincent and Olivier James have several objectives in mind. “We want to promote sport for all, respond to local demand for padel, create a place for intergenerational living and exchange around sporting activities, enable the organization of sporting and friendly events, for birthdays, business networks, seminars…”
The two padel enthusiasts are convinced that their project “meets the expectations of Falais residents through local demand for both padel and badminton during peak hours, summer and winter. We offer fun activities for young people, through birthday parties, recreational afternoons and we support sport for seniors.
We also believe in the dynamism that events such as inter-retailer/company tournaments, seminars, hosting business clubs, after-work events, etc. can bring.”
Societal and environmental commitments
According to Laurent Vincent and Olivier James, this project cannot be conceived without respecting societal and environmental commitments. “There will be no noise pollution. The building will be isolated.” Furthermore, the tandem wishes to create partnerships with associations, traders and local businesses (tennis, badminton, UCIA, business associations, etc.).
For Laurent Vincent and Olivier James, this project is fully in line with the objectives of revitalizing the Falaise area. “It meets the expectations of Falais residents by combining sport, well-being and social connections. We want to offer Falais residents a modern and warm space where sport rhymes with pleasure and sharing,” declares Olivier James.
All these points reinforce our idea that padel, in Falaise, is more than a desire, it’s a need!
