Nicky Hayen was suddenly fired from Club Brugge, just like Wouter Biebauw. The goalkeeper coach had to pack his bags at Blue-Black and has now found a new job.
From blue-black to green-black in one week
But he didn’t have to stray far: Biebauw ended up at Cercle Brugge a week later. He is now a goalkeeper coach there, but is also responsible for the standing phases.
Things can sometimes go very quickly in football. At Het Nieuwsblad, Biebauw talked about how his dismissal, and that of Nicky Hayen, went. “Nicky Hayen was called first and then it was my turn.”
The real reason for the dismissal at Club?
“Those responsible once again emphasized that they were very satisfied with my work, but I had worked with Nicky for three and a half years, first at Club NXT and then with the first team,” Biebauw continues.
“We were too close and they wanted innovation,” the goalkeeper concludes. Could that be the real reason for the dismissal? In any case, their paths part now. Biebauw is working at Cercle, while Hayen is the favorite to succeed Thorsten Fink at KRC Genk.
