Nice-Angers: Fan Frustration & Empty Seats – Photos

Noxious atmosphere at the Allianz Riviera! The crisis is not over in Nice, to say the least. The Aiglons were greeted this Sunday by waves of whistles as they entered the field for their match against Angers.

However, the stands were largely sparse after the call for boycotts from OGC Nice supporter groups. Only a few thousand people came to attend this match on the 15th day of Ligue 1, giving the appearance of a match from the Covid era with reduced capacity.

The people of Nice are named after Moffi and Boga

This surreal start to the match follows a week of great tensions within the Riviera club. It all started with the muscular reception given to the players by a few hundred supporters last Sunday evening after yet another defeat in Lorient.

Some players as well as the sports director Florian Maurice complained of having been victims of beatings and two of them – Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga, even filed a complaint against X after being placed on sick leave.

This is also why the Nice players all wear jerseys bearing the names of Moffi and Boga. The whistles did not go off after the start of the game, quite the contrary. The spectators even began to chant “olé”, “olé” at each successful pass by the Angevins and to criticize the Niçois for their losses of the ball.

Before this match, Nice was in 11th place in the Championship after suffering four consecutive losses.
